Broadstairs

Broadstairs (mp3)

It's great being off with the kids. You should've seen their little faces light up when I told 'em we weren't going on holiday this year. "Dad," my youngest said, "I love you."

And that's what makes it all worthwhile. All those hours at work.

Me and the wife don't get much quality time with the kids. We're both working our arses off, trying to keep a roof over our heads.

Here we are, home from Broadstairs. Smashing day. Handsome. Who needs to go abroad when you've got all that on your doorstep? No queues at the airport. No restrictions on what you can take. Just an hour and a bit down the M2, A299. Lovely run. Kids in the back. Wife in the front. Air con keeping things cool. Beyonce on the stereo. Lovely. No queues. Straight down. Park up. Walk to the beach. Blue sky. Blue sea. Handsome.

Fish 'n' chips. Ice Creams. Bit of R&R. Shut eye.

Then back to the car. Nice easy run back. A299, M2. Kids in the back. Wife in the front. Beautiful.

Staycation

Staycation (mp3)

This year we're having a staycation. The kids don't know yet, but I can't wait to see their little faces light up when I tell them that instead of going away on holiday they'll be able to sleep in their own beds, play on their own computers, watch their own tellies.

We're going to be going out for days. Maybe to the coast if it's nice. Broadstairs. Whitstable. You know, somewhere nice.

Fish 'n' chips. Ice creams. Sounds good to me.

And if it's not nice, we'll go to, I don't know, The Natural History Museum? Somewhere like that?

It'll be great exploring things on our doorstep. Right there. On our doorstep.
